Abstract

The majority of today’s pupils live in conditions in which they have hardly any information concerning the human being and experience not enough love. They are, however, assailed by ideologies which instigate them to look for momentary pleasures and thus lead them to subordination. In such a situation, the task of responsible educators is to be guided by a holistic and realistic anthropology, one which takes into account all the essential spheres of humanity whilst respecting the fact that the pupil is not only endangered by negative pressures of the environment, but also by his/her own weaknesses and is able to harm his/herself. An education based on truth about the human being enables the formation of the character of children and youth based on a mature hierarchy of values and on moral norms which guard them from every form of crisis.
