How to understand and love addicted people?

Abstract

It is hard to understand those who are addicted, because in the active phase of persisting in addiction they do not understand themselves. To love the addicted wisely only someone is capable of, who knows that they are extremely conditioned emotionally by some substance or compulsive action, that they elude themselves and deny the fact of their addiction, that they are exceptional manipulators of their nearest and dearest and that they do not react to our love or our suffering which they inflict upon us. They only react to their own suffering. That is why a wise and in this case sturdy love consists of applying the principle: you persist in addiction, you shall have to bear all the painful consequences of you behaviour.
